Spend your afternoon with the Power Panel! Come meet the North American Stars of the Solo World: Nicky Guadagni, James Judd, Rebecca Northan and Sandy Simona.
Topics covered will include: - a look into their creative process - secrets about touring North America and abroad - how to have a hit show!
Panelists: NICKY GUADAGNI is originally from Montreal and a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her theatre work in Canada includes: Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Citadel Theatre), Ariel in The Tempest and Juliet (The Dream in High Park), Ophelia in Hamlet and Kattrin in Mother Courage (National Arts Centre), Titania in Midsummer Nights Dream (Stratford Third Stage), Zastrozzi and Criminal Genius (Factory Theatre), The Seagull and Member of the Wedding (Tarragon), The Half of It (Necessary Angel) and OD on Paradise (Theatre Passe Muraille). She's been nominated for five Gemini awards for her acting on television and won two for Major Crime and Blue Murder. Nicky was a member of the repertory company of actors that starred in the detective TV series Nero Wolfe performing over a dozen roles. For the CBC she has performed in many radio dramas and read Jane Urquhart's The Stone Carvers for Between the Covers. She narrated the TV series Birth Stories as well as several documentaries and was one of the stars of the feature film Cube. She wrote and performed in In the Wings based on Carole Corbeil's book at Theatre Passe Muraille. She has taught and directed at George Brown College, National Theatre School, UCDrama at the University of Toronto.
JAMES JUDD is a monologist from San Francisco now residing in New York City. James is a former member of The Groundlings in Los Angeles. He was also a member the New Faces at the Hollywood Improv. As a comedian and comedy writer, James worked on many entertainment projects, including television appearances on Star Search and Evening at the Improv. He has recorded six live, filmed performances for National Public Radio's top-rated syndicated program Snap Judgment and Snap Judgment Films at the Power Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, Nourse Theater in San Francisco, and most recently BAM Opera House in New York. REBECCA NORTHAN is an actor, director, improviser and self-producer who splits her time between Toronto & Calgary. Her smash-hit show, BLIND DATE, has been touring North America for 5 years, since its opening off- Broadway. BLIND DATE runs at the Tarragon Theatre in Sept. 2015. Her latest creation, LEGEND HAS IT, runs at Alberta Theatre Projects in Dec. 2015. She has a spontaneous theatre project in development with the Stratford Festival, AN UNDISCOVERED SHAKESPEARE, which has two workshop performances in August as part of the Forum. She sometimes works in film and TV, and teaches improv. AT SOULO THEATRE FESTIVAL 2015: "Troublemaker", Opening Night Gala, Thursday May 21 at 8pm.
SANDY SIMONA is an interdisciplinary, multimedia artist & storyteller. Her award winning solo show, LOST IN LVOV, has performed nationally, awarded Best Satire (featured in American Theatre Magazine) at United Solo Festival in New York City, 2014, and combined artform's Producers Encore Award at The Hollywood Fringe Festival 2014 in Los Angeles. Recently, she has been invited to perform LVOV in Warsaw, Poland as part of United SOLO EUROPE. LOST IN LVOV has recently been published on INDIE THEATRE NOW. Sandy's writing, choreography and devised work has been shared and performed nationally at The Guthrie Theater (TIME SENSITIVE Directed by Marcela Lorca) , The California Institute of the Arts, and Highways Performance Space, and Internationally at The Au Brana Cultural Centre and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. AT SOULO THEATRE FESTIVAL 2015: Workshop - 'Travelling Stories', Sunday May 24 at 4pm; "Lost In Lvov", Sunday May 24 at 7pm.
Faciltator: TRACEY ERIN SMITH is an award winning performer, writer and teacher who believes in crazy-wisdom and practices reverent irreverence. Smith is the founder of the award-winning SOULO Theatre Company (Best Small Theatre, NOW Magazine 2014) the Artistic Director of Toronto's SOULO Theatre Festival, SOULO NYC and the Co-Founder of the Totnes SOULO Theatre Festival in England. Smith recently won a Broadway World Toronto Award for her latest solo show, "Memento Mori". Her plays have been Critic's Pick in BackStage Magazine NYC, and a two time winners of 'Best of the Toronto Fringe Festival' and the 'Audience Choice Award' in New York City's Frigid Festival. Smith presents SOULO Theatre Workshops internationally.

+ All shows begin on time. + There are NO latecomers, NO refunds, NO exceptions, but we are happy to exchange your tickets to another event (pending availability) if you are late to your show! Please double check your event's start time/location and arrive early to avoid disappointment. + Walk-up tickets will go on sale ONE HOUR before the event, cash only. + If an event has sold out online, come on down to the theatre and see if we have any walk-up tickets available! + Advance ticket sales end at 12pm the day of the event. If online sales have ended, we strongly encourage you to visit the theatre in person!
