Award-winning pioneer of Canadian solo theatre, Diane Flacks talks about her one-woman shows, how she creates them and what life is like as a working Canadian theatre artist and playwright. There will be time for questions from the audience.
DIANE FLACKS is a writer/performer in theatre, TV, radio, and fiction. She's been lauded for her 4 critically acclaimed solo shows -- Myth Me, By a Thread, Random Acts, and Bear With Me -- and her Chalmers nominated collaborations with Richard Greenblatt: Sibs and Care, both at the Tarragon Theatre. Diane has written and performed in theatres across the country and in New York and Los Angeles. She has also written for, and appeared on, numerous Canadian TV series, including The Kids in the Hall, for which she was nominated for a writing Emmy.
She is a writer/producer on the critically acclaimed NBC/Global sitcom Working the Engels; is developing a new one-hour drama, Patient Rep, for CITY tv/eOne, and is Nightwood Theatre's 2014 playwright in residence with a new play about women and religion, Unholy. Her new dramatic 2-act play Waiting Room had its world premiere as part of Tarragon Theatre's 2014-2015 season. She can currently be heard in your car as CBC radio's national parenting columnist, and as a regular contributor to Definitely Not the Opera. Her book, Bear With Me, What They Don't Tell You About Pregnancy and New Motherhood was published by McClelland & Stewart, and she adapted it into a hit solo show, a Canadian tour, and for a performance at the CBC TV Winnipeg Comedy Fest. She has been a feature columnist for the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, and wrote a solo show for The Air Farce's Luba Goy produced at Canstage, which won the 2014 Kobzar Literary award.

+ All shows begin on time. + There are NO latecomers, NO refunds, NO exceptions, but we are happy to exchange your tickets to another event (pending availability) if you are late to your show! Please double check your event's start time/location and arrive early to avoid disappointment. + Walk-up tickets will go on sale ONE HOUR before the event, cash only. + If an event has sold out online, come on down to the theatre and see if we have any walk-up tickets available! + Advance ticket sales end at 12pm the day of the event. If online sales have ended, we strongly encourage you to visit the theatre in person!
