In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Conga drummer-lead singer Edgardo Cambon and his Salsa Band "Edgardo & Candela," will present a fun-filled evening of Salsa dance music.
As the second concert of the Rhythmix Island Arts Festival series, Edgardo & Candela bring the music of Cuba and Puerto Rico in combination with Edgardo's original tunes and Salsa hits of the 70's and 80's to the island of Alameda.
Performing for more than 20 years, Candela is one of the most established and reknowned Salsa Bands in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a special treat, Edgardo will perform the Uruguayan Candombe rhythms with guest percussionist during the break.
Show up at 8 pm for the Salsa dance lesson followed by two sets of exhilarating dance music to put your newfound moves to the test!
Edgardo will also be teaching an afternoon PERCUSION DE LA SALSA! Family Workshop using Congas, Bongó, Timbales, Guiro, Maracas, Claves, and Chekeré to learn the basic rhythms of Salsa, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Chá and more. Open to ages 13 and up and all levels are welcome!
"Having recently celebrated 24 years of uninterrupted Salsa groves with their NEW acclaimed production "Celebrando 20 Años," Edgardo's cast of young and veteran lions always deliver!"
