For his latest endeavor Y, choreographer Jonathan Meyer delved into his long relationship with dance and added the challenge of creating an evening-length solo performance. Following the recent success of The Waking Room (with collaborator Christopher Preissing) and Tacit (with collaborators Julia Rae Antonick and Joseph St. Charles), Meyer has engaged in a process of choreographic introspection to examine the notion of selfhood.
Deepening the collaboration begun in The Waking Room, Y features original music from composer Christopher Preissing, with manipulated field recordings and a live vocal ensemble.
Presented by Khecari, this is the second installation in a three-part series of solos for Meyer. Begun at The Other Dance Festival in fall of 2010, the Home series will culminate in an August performance.
