Blues On The Coast 2011
Arena Theater announces Blues on the Coast 2011 Arena Theater presents the schedule for the annual, five part Blues on the Coast series, sponsored by Gualala Chevron and The Pier Chowder House and Tap Room. Season tickets for the complete Blues on the Coast series are $105.00 and subscribers will receive preferred seating and a Blues on the Coast T-shirt. Rick Estrin and The Nightcats will open the series on Saturday February 26. Estrin ranks among the very best harp players, singers and songwriters in the blues world today. His work on the reeds is deep in the tradition of harmonica masters Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter Jacobs. The Associated Press called his harp playing "endlessly impressive." Earl Thomas, an internationally respected blues vocalist and a legend in San Francisco music circles, will present his dynamic stage show on Saturday April 9. Blues singer John Lee Hooker Jr., son of 20th century blues legend John Lee Hooker, will bring blues in the tradition of his famous father to Arena Theater on Saturday June 4. Joanne Shaw Taylor hails from Great Britain and joins the ever growing number of young women who successfully pursue the career of a blues guitar player. Taylor will perform on Saturday August 27. Los Angeles based Janiva Magness, one of today's most talented and recognized blues and roots vocalists, will close the 2011 Blues on the Coast series on Saturday October 8. All shows will begin at 8:30 PM. Tickets for the series are available online at www.arenatheater.org.
