SIMON & GARFUNKEL RARE CLIPS (1964-1972)
The unique combination of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel gave us some of the greatest songs of the 1960s, including Sounds of Silence, Mrs. Robinson, I Am a Rock, Homeward Bound, Cecelia, The Boxer, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. The blend of Simon's poetic lyrics with the pair's soaring harmonies created undeniable electricity for their audience. They were childhood friends, and have had a famous thorny relationship. They started out as teens in high school in a group they called Tom and Jerry and soon landed a record contract. Simon & Garfunkel were closely associated with the folk movement, although they always considered themselves part of the rock 'n roll tradition, on the order of the Everly Brothers in their initial incarnation. They changed their name to Simon and Garfunkel and became famous for the sound we all know. They became spokespersons for a whole generation of young people who identified with their songs about romance, disenchantment, politics, isolation, and betrayal. No fan of Simon's & Garfunkel will want to miss this amazing evening of rare concerts and television appearances. .Approx. 90 min.
