Transparent Substrate
Julia Goodman, artist and papermaker, and sound artist Scott Cazan have developed a workshop for a hands-on exploration of pre-paper technology using the amazing, edible, seasonal beet.
During this two hour workshop, Julia will first discuss the range of materials used prior to the invention of paper. After we geek out on historical craft, Julia and Scott will lead participants in pounding out their own piece of beet papyrus. Beet papyrus is a gorgeous, translucent pink, red, and yellow that you can use to write a letter or decorate your home. While you hammer, Scott will transform your work into beats (get it?) to make this one multi-sensory event for the books.
