Theatre4Play Festival is scheduled June 16-19 to coincide with the 2005 Theatre Communication Group (TCG) National Conference to be held in Seattle June 15-19, 2005.
Theatre4Play Festival developed out of an initiative that began at the 2004 Theatre Puget Sound Fall Forum, in which members of small and mid-size theatre organizations joined together to pursue cooperative marketing and outreach strategies. We view the Theatre4Play Festival as a way to utilize the attraction of the Seattle Center location in order to build Seattle theatre audiences, while also demonstrating the vibrancy of Seattle's theatre scene to theatre professionals nationwide.
The 15th Annual TCG (Theatre Communications Group) National conference, the only nationwide gathering of the not-for-profit professional theatre community, will be jointly hosted by ACT Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre and Seattle Repertory Theatre. It will focus on "Creating the Future: Theatre in a Polarized World." A statement on the initial TCG press release reads: "This is the first time the conference will be held in the Northwest and it will provide an exciting opportunity to showcase the diversity of theatres and cultural attractions in Seattle to a national audience."
