Have you ever tried to describe Jewish Humor to a friend? It's not easy. Our investigation begins in the 1960âs and continues until today; using film, selected Jewish jokes, and discussion we will examine the many hilarious forms of Jewish Humor. Whether taking on family, poking fun at our oppressors, or exercising self-deprecation, this will be great fun. This is a three part Seminar (with Great Jewish comics and On the Other Hand pt.2). GREAT JEWISH COMICS OF THE PAST 75 YEARS
This scintillating revue of Jewish humor combines performance and lecture. In the performance portions, Steve Budd delivers standup routines and jokes of well-known Jewish comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser, Jackie Mason, Woody Allen, Jack Benny, and the Marx Brothers. In the lecture portion, he address the history of Jewish comedians in America, consider the reasons for their popularity, and provide some answers to the question, "What makes Jewish humor Jewish?"
