SLOW U: Cacao - Bar or Bottle?
Just in time for St. Valentine's Day, we invite you to explore delightful and unique formulations for the enjoyment of the fruit of the cacao tree, from the bean-to-bar ones you know and love to the cutting edge of cacao distillates-in-a-bottle.
Discover Pacari Chocolate, a premium, single-origin, organic chocolate made at the source from the finest Arriba Nacional beans in Ecuador, greet palate intoxicator, Daniel Sklaar, of Brooklyn-based Fine & Raw, who makes raw chocolate in small batches with the finest quality cacao beans, rich in antioxidants, and other rare ingredients, and meet Daniel Preston of Cacao Prieto, the descendant of generations of Spanish distillers in the Dominican Republic, who, with his partner, Michael Cirino, makes chocolate confections and Cacao Prieto Chocolate Spirits in Brooklyn using rare, small-production beans from the Dominican Republic.
This event is produced by Migration of Senses. Pecari and Fine & Raw chocolates will be paired with wines and spirits specially selected by our hosts at Union Square Wines.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the programs and activities of not-for-profit, Slow Food NYC, including the Urban Harvest programs of good food education for NYC kids.
