Short Stories Live: Southern Gothic
Town Hall's favorite literary program is hosted and directed by ACT Theatre's Kurt Beattie. A special Mother's Day afternoon offering includes works by a trio of American short story masters from the south. Flannery O'Connor's "Good Country People" is read by Julie Briskman, Anne Allgood reads "Old Mr. Marblehall" by revered Mississippi writer Eudora Welty, and "A Rose for Emily" by the "father of Southern literature," William Faulkner, is read by Ted DâArms. The series continues on Sunday, June 10 with stories by contemporary American writersâ Nathan Englander, by E.L. Doctorow, and Edwidge Danticat.
