Trial of Hamlet - Students & Teachers
These are tickets for the 2nd Balcony Only! Student IDs will be checked at the door.
Join United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy as he presides over The Trial of Hamlet where the Court will determine, once and for all, whether Hamlet was mentally competent at the time he committed the murder of Polonius.
Beverly Hills Bar Association Members Richard G. Hirsch and Blair Berk will offer arguments in Hamlet's defense, and Los Angeles County Bar Association Members Danette Meyers and Nathan J. Hochman will argue for the prosecution.
Psychiatrists Dr. Saul Faerstein and Dr. Ronald Markman will appear as expert witnesses for the defense and prosecution, respectively.
SCLA favorite Graham Hamilton will portray Hamlet.
A jury of 12 community members, including high school and college students, philanthropists, actors and Los Angeles dignitaries will decide whether Hamlet will stand trial for murder or be discharged based on mental instability.
Once the arguments have concluded, the Justice will excuse the Jury. Though their deliberations will be held off-stage, the audience will see, via closed-circuit feed, the first 20 minutes of deliberations.
The Trial of Hamlet is presented by The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles as a part of its 25th Anniversary Season, and is graciously hosted by The University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
The event is co-sponsored by The Beverly Hills Bar Association and The Los Angeles County Bar Associations.
