Johnny: The Quick and the Dead
Come see the latest piece from the company that brought you "Ebenezer"- acclaimed by Bitter Lemons as "the real deal when it comes to immersive entertainment."
Adapted in part from Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got his Gun," "Johnny: The Quick and the Dead" explores the memories of a soldier who was critically injured in the trenches of WWI.
Drawing material from the novel, as well as a variety historical and artistic wartime sources, THE JOHNNY CYCLE will guide audiences through a personalized, individual, and epic experience examining the costs of war. Part I - The Quick and the Dead, will move through personal battlefields; guests will come in contact with a multitude of characters--childhood loves, family members, war room generals, soldiers, nurses, and even major religious figures--each character playing their role, intentionally or not, in sending our hero to his destiny as he desperately struggles to be heard. The living and the dead have voices--but Johnny is trapped in between.
The performance will be presented at The American Legion Post #13 in Old Town Pasadena. Admission is limited. Audience members will be given a specific time for their performance to begin and will last 40-50 minutes. Performances begin at 8:00pm and will continue at 20 minute intervals afterwards. There will be a bar for audience members to share a drink with each other (and some of the characters) before and after their allotted performance times.
