Old-Time Bluegrass Mandolin w/Caleb Klauder
Caleb is known to the Mandolin community for developing a unique style to follow the old time fiddle. He will teach a melody of fiddle tunes, and how to get tight with the fiddle, focusing on the rhythm of the fiddle bowing. Mandolin double stops, tremolo and chord variations will also be demonstrated as methods to backing up old time tunes. He will also spend time talking about and demonstrating old time bluegrass solo styles in the manner of Bill Monroe, Ira Louvin and Joe Val focusing on the lyrical and melodic direction.

Caleb Klauder hails from Portland, Oregon. He cut his musical teeth in well-traveled northwest folk-rock group Calobo, who put out five self-released titles throughout the nineties. He currently plays mandolin and sings with internationally acclaimed old-time ensemble, The Foghorn Stringband. His first solo record "...Sings Out" was released on Padre Records in 2000 and featured a combination of self-penned folk, rock and roll and country music. His new disc, "Dangerous Me's And Poisonous You's", is a collection of originals and covers in the honky-tonk vein.
