C.Shreve the Professor & Free The Optimus
Free The Optimus is a hip hop collective based out of Asheville, North Carolina. The FTO philosophy can be broken down into a simple 3 step process: 1) Free your optimistic perspective; 2) Do your best; 3) Transform the world.
The musical focus is on rhythm exploration and raw lyricism. In live performance form, FTO consists of C.Shreve the Professor and Mike L!VE on vocals, DJ Jet on the turntables (in true vinyl DJ mode), and a rotating selection of guest MCs and musicians. The jazz (and hip hop) mindset of free form improvisation and collaboration is a vital component to the Free the Optimus live experience, as songs and structure are often tossed aside in favor of the energy and groove of the moment. FTO has shared stages with Cannibal Ox, The Hieroglyphics, Three 6 Mafia, Tanya Morgan, Illogic, Gift of Gab, and many more.

For the past few years he had been non stop putting out music and booking shows on the east coast, sharing a stage with everyone from underground to industry performers including FTO, crazy horse & colston, Chachilli, Lil Will, Calico Jones, CyHi da Prynce, and many more. C-MINOR
The soulful Cedric Minor was born in the small town of New Bern, NC. His father was a middle school band teacher and was also apart of a Contemporary Gospel Band that went by the name of I.W.T. (Intercity Worship Team). He quickly gravitated towards becoming a musician as he would watch his father performing on stage. He started writing his own poetry and songs at the age of 10 years old. Through the years, as he progressed and as his passion for writing grew he started performing and producing music under the alias Kineticz up until 2005.
His unique sound stems from influences that reach across all genres of music. He has been inspired by everyone from John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, Weather Report, to Madlib, J Dilla, Pete Rock, Mos Def, Common, Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, Blu and Nas just to name a few. His eclectic style has taken him from both ends of the musical spectrum providing a style that stands in a class of its own.
He recently released his new solo mixtape entitled "R.B.G.: The Rhythm, The Blues, & The Gentleman". C Minor is also one third of the hip hop group 5th Element with the inventive Vino and the resourceful Ill Will. The Group was founded in 2008 when the trio met in College where they all majored in the Audio Engineering. In 2012 the group plans on dropping their debut mixtape. C Minor has shared the stage with such artists as King Mez, Sky Blew, and many more.
C Minor is on his way to becoming a success in the music industry. His soulful yet eclectic style fused with his creativity and imagination is gaining momentum, and only seems to be generating more as he creates more music. With his witty and thought provoking lyrical content and poignant production skills expanding he's not only becoming a balanced artist but he's becoming a complete package and a force to be reckoned with.
