Levon Vincent was undoubtedly one of the "new" artists on the tip of everyone's tongue in 2008, and 2009 and 2010 were both huge breakout years for him. But make no mistake about it, Levon is anything but a newcomer to the scene. He's been a DJ since 1993, and ran the More Music NY label from 2002 to 2006, releasing 4 of his own 12"s, one of which was even picked up by Josh Wink's Ovum imprint. He worked at Halcyon in Brooklyn for many years, at one point as the manager during Spinoza's Undercity party, where the two struck up a friendship over beers and weird electronic music. In 2008, he founded Deconstruct Music with Anthony Parasole along with Novel Sound, his own label. Since then, his records have been played by everyone (seriously, EVERYONE), and he's made appearances at nearly every club that matters. We are thrilled to welcome him back to The Bunker for the first time since he played an all-acid set at subTonic back in the day.

When we first invited Donato Dozzy to play at The Bunker in March 2009, we realized we couldn't bring him all the way to Brooklyn without inviting his dear friend Mike Parker, who lives nearby in Buffalo, New York. Mike impressed the hell out of us with amazing sets after Donato in both Brooklyn and Philadephia, and we've been eager to bring him back ever since. He's on a roll at the moment, with buy-on-sight releases on Aquaplano, Prologue, and his own Geophone coming out in the past month or so. He has an all analog studio set-up and records his tracks live in one take, which are then self-released with his own screenprints as cover art. Mike is a true visionary making music for all the right reasons, and treats techno more as a sacred art project than a career, which is very refreshing to say the least.

The best dance music reissue of 2010 definitely has to go to Rush Hour from The Netherlands, who re-released Virgo's untitled album, long considered to be one of the greatest Chicago house music records of all time by connoisseurs. Virgo are Merwyn Sanders and Eric Lewis. They also recorded as Virgo Four, Ace & The Sandman and M.E. and shouldn't be confused with the other Virgo of Vince Lawrence, Marshall Jefferson, and Adonis. After disappearing for decades, Virgo played gigs at Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, and Trouw this summer, and we've heard first hand reports that they put on an excellent show. It's not every day that you get to see an act this legendary play a live set. We cannot recommend highly enough that you pick up this album as see what all the fuss is about.

Patrick Russell is a serious name to watch. A Detroit-bred DJ, artist and producer since the early 90's, Patrick has played countless clubs, parties, and high-profile events throughout his career. His resume highlights include everything from performing at the 2001 & 2008 DEMF/Movement festivals to an exclusive opening for Jeff Mills in Detroit in 2007. His taste has always been impeccable and his sets just get better and better as time progresses. And fans in Detroit and beyond are taking notice, as many of them are singing the praises of his artistry very loudly these days. Patrick found himself playing a prime time set in the back room at Unsound Festival New York last year and rose to the occasion. Russell will be focusing on the housier side of things tonight, but he has an ear for bringing all sorts of different music into the fold in unexpected ways that still works beautifully on the dancefloor.
