West Nyack Renovation & Restoration House Tour
West Nyack, NY What's old is new again.
Celebrate the arrival of spring in historic "Clarksville," known today as West Nyack, on SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2015 with a tour of some of the area's most charming and treasured homes. Each of these unique residences has been either lovingly restored or artfully renovated and re-invented. Among the featured homes are a diversity of periods and styles including a pastoral Queen Anne Victorian farmhouse, a stately Second Empire, a quaint 1930's woodland stone cottage, and a 1950's Asian-styled bungalow (among others).
This self-guided house tour will take place rain or shine from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a wine and hors d'oeuvre reception to follow from 3 - 5 PM on the grounds of Blue Rock School located on the site of an 18th century Dutch farm at 110 Demarest Mill Road. Once the summer residence of famed fashion designer, Clare Potter, this beautiful, wooded property is now home to the imaginative children who populate Blue Rock's K - 8th progressive school.
The Clarksville Inn Restaurant & Pub, located at 1 Strawtown Road, is offering a special prix fixe luncheon menu for House Tour guests (not included in ticket price). Lunch reservations are strongly recommended by calling 845-358-2801.
Presented by the Blue Rock School, this will be the school's sixth Renovation & Restoration House Tour since its inception in 2004. All proceeds benefit the Ruth Schaeffer Scholarship Fund, which makes an alternative education more accessible to children throughout the region. This year's event is made possible in part by the generosity of sponsor Better Homes & Gardens Rand Reality of 46 South Broadway in Nyack.
The Lower Hudson Valley's only progressive, independent, day school, Blue Rock provides a rich educational experience based on a holistic and hands-on approach that nurtures children's innate love of learning, and enables them to develop as independent thinkers and grow in a dynamic learning community. At Blue Rock, students engage in a creative academic curriculum which is infused with the arts, nature and play.
During the summer months, Blue Rock also offers Summer Play Camp, a five-week recreational summer program for children ages 3 to 12, which is open to the community at large.
PLEASE NOTE: TOUR BEGINS AT 110 DEMAREST MILL ROAD. TICKETS AND TOUR BOOKLETS AVAILABLE THERE THROUGHOUT THE DAY, AS WELL AS DIRECTIONS FOR PARKING. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE MAJORITY OF HOMES ARE ACCESSIBLE VIA OUR SHUTTLE SERVICE ONLY, AS PARKING IS SCARCE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND RESPECT FOR OUR NEIGHBORS.
