BILL STAINES
After touring and playing concerts for almost 50 years, you would think that singer-songwriter Bill Staines might consider slowing down. That's just not the case. Bill continues to perform about 175 shows a year, making him one of the most durable and beloved singers on today's folk circuit.
On stage, Bill is an engaging presence, encouraging the audience to sing along. He mixes traditional tunes with his own contemporary folk ballads. His humorous tales of life on the road and observations of everyday people make for an entertaining blend of story and song.
Bill has 26 recordings to his credit and his songs have been performed by Peter. Paul & Mary, Makem & Clancy, and Jerry Jeff Walker to name a few. Nancy Griffith has said, "Bill Staines has been my hero since 1977. He carries on where Woody left off carrying on the tradition of stories and characters you wish you knew."
