To Kill A Mockingbird
Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre's 2014-2015 Season concludes in May with Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's beloved, Pulitzer Prize winning novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. Performances begin Friday, May 1 and continue through Sunday, May 10. This is the inaugural production on the Mainstage of Pierce College's newly-renovated Performing Arts Center. Set in Alabama during the Great Depression, momentous events unfold through the eyes of 10 year old Scout, growing up in a close-knit neighborhood with her older brother Jem and their summertime visitor Dill. When their father Atticus Finch, a well-respected lawyer, mounts a vigorous and compelling case for the defense of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of the rape of a young white girl, an idyllic world of childhood is changed forever. Through the drama of the trial and its aftermath comes a searching examination of freedom, justice, honesty and hypocrisy. To Kill A Mockingbird is a timeless, compelling and deeply moving story told with warmth and humor. LAPC Theatre's production of To Kill A Mockingbird is directed by RoZsa Horvath, and features Michael Chandler as Atticus Finch, Elyse Hamilton as Scout, Matt Markham as Jem, Jean Hyppolite as Tom Robinson, Gannon Hays as Dill and Robin McClamb as Calpurnia. The rest of the cast includes Steven Alpert, Robin Anderson, Cody Bailey, Chakiyah Bowman, Matt DeHaven, Leah Foster, Danielle Handel, Will Hill, Kayla Humphrey, Scott Kriloff, Lark Soleil Le Clear, Von Schauer, Michele Selin, Arvie Sherman, Albert Thakur and Vance Wells. Scenic design is by Gene Putnam, costume design by Eileen Gizienski, lighting design by Michael Gend and sound design by Edward Salas. Natasha Wells is the stage manager.
