PRESENTATION: WSDOT Cost and Schedule Risk Assessment -- Innovative Solutions
Come join us for the last dinner meeting of the season. The topic is WSDOT's new project management approach with emphasis on cost and schedule risk management (Risk Assessment, Risk Treatment Planning, and Risk Monitoring and Control). In addition, lessons learned will be discuss plus overview of WSDOT's current risk assessment toolbox.
PRESENTER: Ovidiu Cretu, Ph.D., PE, PTOE Ovidiu has been employed by WSDOT since 1992. He has held the senior position in WSDOT's Cost and Schedule Risk Management group since May, 2004. He is a member of the NCHRP 19-11 "Changing the Game: Innovative Solutions to Allocate Risk and Deliver Projects Successfully under Constrained Budget Conditions" and of the FHWA team that overview the "Development and Delivery of Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis Template" needed for Cost Estimate Review Program. Ovidiu is the developer of the "Risk Based Estimate Self-modeling" which allows any WSDOT employee to run Monte Carlo Simulations for their projects.
PRESENTER: Mark Gabel, PE, AVS Mark Gabel leads the VE and Project Risk Management programs for WSDOT. Under Mark's leadership the program has experienced enormous success and recognition, and he has been a featured speaker on a variety of topics related to project management, value engineering and project risk management at national, state, and local meetings and conferences. Mark was also part of the technical panel for the National Highway Institute to develop a course on Addressing Uncertainty in Cost Estimating. Over the past 20 plus years at WSDOT Mark has worked in construction and design offices, planning, plans, and project management and has been leading the Cost Risk Estimating Management (CREM) unit since 2005 and began serving as the Value Engineering Manager in 2011.

Non-members will be charged $36.00 before 12:00 Noon on the Monday immediately preceding the meeting, and $41.00 thereafter. REGISTRATION: TBD Please note that registration will be closed Monday May 11th at 8:00 pm. A very limited of first come first served meals will be available at the door. MENU: You may order Pan Seared Steak Sukiyaki, Alder-Smoke Salmon with Horseradish Cream or Vegetarian (requires one week advance notice) dinner.
