Franc D'Ambrosio's "Christmas in New York"
Affectionately known as "The Iron Man of The Mask," Franc D'Ambrosio retained the title as the "World's Longest Running Phantom" for a decade. Joining the ranks of a handful of Phantom alumni to successfully cross over to solo careers, he has toured continuously for 11 years and performed recently as a special music guest at ice shows in Brazil and Mexico.
Now in its 25th season, Port Ludlow Performing Arts celebrates the holidays with its annual Sunday matinee concert preceded by a complimentary wassail party at 3:00 p.m. The Bay Club auditorium will be beautifully decorated in its holiday finery.
Making his third appearance in Port Ludlow, Mr. D'Ambrosio's "Christmas in New York," with piano accompaniment, will begin at 4:00 p.m. The show is a joyous celebration of the magic of the holiday season filled with seasonal pop standards from the Great American Songbook and other favorites, including "We Need A Little Christmas" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." Familiar carols, the beloved "Ave Maria" and "O Holy Night" round out the program.
While D'Ambrosio was singing in the chorus of his first Broadway show early in his career, he was cast by Francis Ford Coppola as the perfect Anthony Corleone, the opera-singing son of Al Pacino in Coppola's seven-time Academy Award nominated film "Godfather III." He had the honor of singing the Academy Award winning theme song, "Speak Softly Love" (Brucia la Terra) both in the film and on the original motion picture soundtrack. D'Ambrosio's performance so impressed the late Luciano Pavarotti that the legendary tenor invited him to study with him one summer.
