Keynote Address by Ambassadors of the Federation of Damanhur
Founded in 1975 and located in Northwestern Italy, the Federation of Damanhur is an internationally renowned center for spiritual, artistic, and sustainable community development. Damanhur is also an evolving intentional community of over 800 people. Damanhurians are known for having built the world's largest underground temple, called the Temple of Humankind, composed of astonishing and inspirational vaulted ceilings, and murals based upon sacred geometry.
Crotalo Sesamo and Shama, ambassadors of Damanhur, will impart their personal experience as well as the 30 years of research developed at Damanhur. The world which they speak about is real - not perfect - and a testament to the potential for all human beings to live in peace, fulfillment, and joy within community. See www.damanhur.info for more fascination.
Understanding:
Panel on Alternative and Fair Trade
Activists and experts from the northwest will host a collaborative discussion about wiser commercial exchange both local and international. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts with these local leaders.
â Nathan Rosquist of the Interra project will present Interra's efforts to create a fair charge card program that rewards consumers for purchasing from locally owned and sustainable businesses.
â Eric Magnusson of Balle Seattle and Magnusson Consulting will speak on local Living Economies and how both business leaders and consumers can work towards better and wiser business practices.
â Dr. Hector Saez of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute will discuss the impact of alternative economies such as community self-sufficiency and export projects in Central America, common property regimes, traditional communal production systems, and asset-building projects to alleviate poverty.
â Brian Allen of the Appropriate Tech group will introduce us to the appropriate technology concept, which promotes the use of the simplest, most benign and most efficient use of tools and materials for our needs.
