The Story of Job: When Bad Things Happen to Good People
The Story of Job: When Bad Things Happen to Good People first premiered in March, 2014. Since then, this breathtaking neoclassical story ballet has captivated audiences with its awe-inspiring virtuosity mixed with a relatable, heartfelt message. The ballet, with original choreography by Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Slager, imagines the ancient Biblical story of Job in a modern day setting, following Job and his children on a journey where Job loses everything. As we see glimpses of conversations between between God and the Accuser, we have the opportunity to join Job as he wrestles with these losses and questions his relationship toward a God who seems to have forsaken him - or has He?

Performance Host Information
Ballet 5:8's performance of The Story of Job at Victory Christian Academy is made possible by Master's Dance Academy! This Christian dance school, also located in Valparaiso, will be presenting a student performance during the first act of this program, prior to Ballet 5:8's performance of The Story of Job.

Performance Length:
Approximately two hours including intermission.

Location and Parking:
The performance will take place at Victory Christian Academy in Ballet 5:8's pop-up black box theater. The Academy is located at 360 N. 325 E., Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.. Parking is free and available in the Academy's lot. Please note that most seating is bleacher seating in the gym; chairs for those who may not be able to sit in the bleachers are available by request.

Children:
This performance is recommended for the whole family! Some of the serious subject matter tackled in The Story of Job is directed to adults more than children, but the portrayal is not graphic or inappropriate in any way. Many young audience members have greatly enjoyed this performance at past showings! Children attending should be at least four years old and able to sit through the entire two hours of the program.
