Arstidir / Marina V / The Sixth Son
When Icelandic chamberpop group Árstíðir sang an ancient Icelandic hymn inside the cavernous hall of a German train station, they never anticipated the aftermath. Millions of people worldwide were mesmerized by the moment, which was captured on camera and subsequently plastered across every social media newsfeed. The quartet have sold out cathedrals in Europe, played with symphonies across Siberia, performed at a music festival 500 miles from the North Pole, and enchanted people worldwide with their unique take on Iceland's haunting musical tonality.
They are joined by Marina V, an award-winning Russian-American recording pop artist, singer and songwriter. Classically trained in her hometown of Moscow, Marina came to America at 15 to pursue her American Dream. She has released several albums and toured the world since - from the famed Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to the American Embassy in Moscow. LA Times praises Marina for her "hauntingly beautiful" voice and The Washington Post describes her songs as "melodic and passionate".
The sound & aesthetic of The Sixth Son can be described as Singer-Songwriter/Futurist, tapping into the deep well of common turmoils & triumphs, while looking forward, but always speaking to the moment. Los Angeles music journalist Brad Roberts writes of the live-performance: "[I] have first hand knowledge of just how good Neil Mallick, and whatever band he puts together, is... Remarkably flexible voice coupled with his powerful, Hendrix-influenced raging guitar... Always delivers a surprising, remarkably skillful set."
