AIAOC Lunch Program- The Pros and Cons of Specifying Engineered Lumber on Multifamily Projects
How to evaluate the best floor and roof joist framing system for your next project
Learning Objectives Attendees will review the importance of the structural floor and roof framing options utilizing either conventional wood framing members such as 2 x 10's or 2 x 12's, or "I" joists products from the 4 major producers servicing the California market.
Review advantages and pitfalls of each type of framing material and how the choice affects the overall performance and cost of the structure.
Review construction schedule concerns, LEED points, STC & IIC ratings, performance, mold and shrinkage concerns, resource optimization, non-proprietary specifications and product warranties.
Review current manufacturing methods that demonstrate the "State of the Art" processes that utilize near 100% of the forests timber resource.
