Time Lapse Dance: Bringing the Arctic Home
Time Lapse Dance brings the Arctic home June 20-21 with a program inspired by choreographer Jody Sperling's incredible experience participating in 7-week polar science mission, as choreographer-in-residence aboard a US Coast Guard icebreaker.
THE PROGRAM "Ice Cycle": Expresses the dynamism and fragility of the Arctic icescape (premiere) "Arctic Memory": Conjures up the vast expanses of the Arctic and exposes its vulnerability "Turbulence": Visualizes patterns of air disturbance into kinetic patterns

SUNDAY, JUNE 21@ 2pm + free post-show kids movement workshop
SUNDAY, JUNE 21@ 7pm + pre-performance screening of "Place with No Daw," by Jessica Houston and Bruno Tremblay + post-show talkback featuring the artists in conversation with the filmmakers and Margie Turrin (Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory)

NOTE: Jody Sperling was invited by Robert Pickart, Senior Scientist of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, to participate in a polar science mission to the Chukchi Sea in 2014. This program draws from her experience dancing on the melting polar ice sheet.
