Crown Heights Homebrew Tour
Despite New York City's gnat-size apartments, local homebrewers refuse to let space detract them from their mission: crafting the city's tastiest beer. On this tour, you'll meet three of the city's finest amateur brewers, who will display their set-ups, discuss their craft and, most importantly, open up their stash of superlative beer.
On today's tour we're going to roam around Crown Heights, Brooklyn. We'll start with Randall Leazer, who be pouring a coffee blonde and Kentucky Common. Next, we'll visit Xavi Jirau, who will have a saison with chamomile and wild yeast, a Brettanomyces-driven tripel, experimental pils, a pale ale and several more surprises. Lastly, Frank Lockwood will close out the show with the lightly spicy Link Fuzz Tone ale, dry cider and Fools Duel, a Belgian smoked ale with celery root and hazelnut.
Eat a big lunch. Your guide is NYC beer journalist Joshua M. Bernstein, the author of Brewed Awakening and The Complete Beer Course.
