Brimstone and Treacle
Note: contains disturbing scenes.
Originally banned by the BBC, Brimstone and Treacle is a highly controversial, yet utterly captivating portrait of suburban fear, faith and the twisted notion of how good may come from evil.
Tom and Amy Bates (a middle-aged, middle-class suburban couple) are struggling to come to terms with life after a hit-and-run accident, which has left their only daughter bed- ridden and unable to communicate. While Tom sinks further into reclusive despair, Amy (who holds a deep religious faith) prays for a miracle. One day, and seemingly out of nowhere, a mysterious stranger appears on their door-step... and changes their lives... forever.
A warped fairytale with a scoop of the blackest, treacle-sweet humour.
Not for the faint hearted.
