Bruka Theatre's 5th Annual Performing Arts Youth Summer Camp - The Bridge To Brukalton
Brüka Theatre Performing Arts Summer Camp July 14th ~ July 26th - 2015
Get ready for the fourth year of our inspiring and magical theatre workshop in which young artists of a variety of experience levels are nurtured in a positive and creative theatre experience. Students are led by working theatre professionals in classes designed to develop imagination, concentration, and confidence with movement and dance, voice, technique, character, theatrical design and appreciation of the theatrical artistic journey.
Participants will be absorbed in acting tools, scene work, script creation, improvisation and dance/movement for two weeks while exploring and creating the original play: The Bridge To Brukalton for a public performance in July 2015. This is a special and unique opportunity to work with artists from Brüka Theatre to develop craft, focus and technique.
Ages 8 - 17 Open to 24 participants 4 Scholarships Available 4 Intern positions available. (Ages 17 - 20) $250 for two weeks. EARLY Sign up by June 1, 2015 $300 for two weeks. Workshop Artists Mary Bennett Core director. Improvisation. Creation. Producing Artistic Director Brüka Theatre. Works as actor, director, producer and Artist in Residence for The Nevada Arts Council and The Sierra Arts Foundation and teaches improv at TMCC. Bennett has worked as a professional theatre creator for over 25 years. She has adapted Grimm's Fairytales in workshops for children and adults and created original works for the duration of her theatrical career.
Sandra Neace Scene work. Acting MFA in Theater from Actors Studio in NY. Works for UNR as an acting teacher with a focus on scene study and has years of experience in the theatre on the west and east coast and as an artist in residence was commissioned by Bruka to create The Medea Project for the Brüka main stage.
Alexander Biber Movement. Choreography Company member of the Sacramento Ballet. Alex also dances with Sierra Nevada Ballet and recently choreographed for Sac Ballet's Beer and Ballet. Alex has also worked as choreographer/creator on Brüka's Buttcracker series and has been seen in numerous Brüka performances.
Lew Zaumeyer Set Design Lew had designed Brüka sets for over 15 years. Lew also works as an actor and board member at Brüka. An architect for most of his adult life, Lew also designed the new Reno Little Theater on Wells Avenue.
David Simpson Technical Director, Lighting & Sound Design Dave is the Technical Director for Brüka Theatre and has worked for over 20 years on the technical side of the theatre with forays onto the stage in shows including The Underpants and The Buttcracker series. Simpson has designed the lights for over forty shows while also designing sound and multi-media elements and has worked as the Technical Director for the Lear Theater and at different venues in Santa Rosa, California.
Cami Thompson Vocal Direction Cami been teaching and coaching singers and actors for over 30 years and has had 3 students featured on the TV show "The Voice". Cami is a popular performer on the west coast and receives airplay on a variety of radio stations and music sites. Cami's recordings can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon
Additional Opportunities Parents can volunteer to supervise lunches, administrate, stage-manage, and work the house for the performances, costume, and props.
4 Internships Available for ages 17 20 (Theatrical or Leadership experience necessary.)
4 Scholarships Available Write a 500-word essay including fiscal limitations and desire to participate in the Performing Arts Camp.
