Saturday Night by Stephen Sondheim
The Young People's Teen Musical Theatre Company proudly presents "Saturday Night!" In celebration of Mr. Sondheim's 80th birthday, we kick off "A Season of Sonheim" with his first musical.
In 1953, "Saturday Night" was to be Sondheim's Broadway debut. However, when lead producer, Lemuel Ayers died, the production was scrapped and the material shelved. In 1997 the full production finally made its stage debut in London. Based on the play, Front Porch in Flatbush "Saturday Night" tells the unassuming story of a group of Brooklyn boys trying to make good in the stock market in 1929.
