A la muerte de su marido, Bernarda Alba impone un riguroso luto en su casa, cerrando las puertas e impidiendo a sus hijas cualquier contacto con el exterior. Las hijas, en edad de casarse, no soportan este enclaustramiento y la aparición de un pretendiente desencadena toda una serie de conflictos entre ellas y con su madre. Emociones reprimidas de celos, amor, risa y tragedia estallan en esta enigmática obra.
Lorca es probablemente el poeta y dramaturgo español más conocido internacionalmente. La Casa de Bernarda Alba es una de las obras cumbres de su teatro y una de las joyas del teatro internacional.
Upon the death of her second husband, iron-fisted matriarch Bernarda Alba imposes an 8-year mourning period on her household, closing all doors and denying her five daughters' any contact with the outside world. The daughters find this seclusion unbearable and the arrival of a suitor for the eldest daughter unleashes a series of conflicts between them and their mother. Bottled emotions of jealousy, love, laughter and tragedy explode in this enigmatic play.
Lorca is considered the greatest Spanish poet and dramatist of the 20th Century. The House of Bernarda Alba is considered by many to be his masterpiece.
