Valentine's Day Party
The Community Education Center (CEC), West Philadelphia's home for strengthening communities and culture through the arts, will host a Valentine's Day fundraiser party to benefit the 2011 CEC Resident Artists. With live performances, a carnival-themed party and activities for both couples and singles, this event will be the perfect way for people across the Greater Philadelphia region to celebrate the holiday.
This year the CEC awarded Residents include Shannon Murphy (Nichole Canuso Dance Company, Idiosyncrazy Dance), Marcel Williams Foster (co-creator of The Jane Goodall: Experience) and Mina Estrada (Shavon Norris Dance). The annual residency program has previously nurtured some of Philadelphia's most celebrated talents, including Nichole Canuso, Headlong Dance Theater, Tania Isaac and Meredith Rainey (former soloist of the Pennsylvania Ballet), among many others.
The fundraiser will feature an hour of cutting-edge dance performances featuring excerpts of work by this year's CEC Residents as well as new work from highly regarded dance and theater artists Meredith Rainey/Carbon Dance Theater, Idiosyncrazy Productions and Les Rivera.
In addition, the event includes a party fit for all Valentine's lovers as well as those still looking for their special someone (or just a romantic kiss). A photo booth featuring a live photographer will capture the magic of the evening. A kissing booth, as well as a cameo appearance from Cupid himself, will provide romance for both singles and couples. All party participants will enjoy a live DJ, fresh cocktails, wine and beer, chair massages, and a raffle with great prizes.
