ALOHA FRIDAY featuring Three Plus & Maoli!!!
Island Sol Company has been working hard on continuing ALOHA FRIDAY this year with the return of Oahu, Hawaii's THREE PLUS!!! Also performing with their first bay area live performance is Maui's own MAOLI with special guests Aloha Brewed, DJ Nappy and Chubbs!!!
THREE PLUS became an overnight success in Hawaii with the 1999 CD release of "Honey Baby". Tight reggae vocals, strong harmonies, and solid musical arrangements shot the band to the top of the charts and they still continue to be played on Hawaii's radio rotations. Some of their unforgettable song titles from the album are "Don't Have to Think Twice", "Cool Operator", "Two Person Party", "Honey Baby", and "Driving Me Pupule". They followed with another CD release titled "For You" in which they won Hawaii's prestigeous Na Hoku Hanohano award for Reggae Album of the Year with the hit song "Undercover Lover" in 2003.
Over a year ago, THREE PLUS headlined our ALOHA FRIDAY event in which they filled the Avalon Nightclub venue to capacity along with fans groovin' and singing along to their song hits. Although THREE PLUS are all local boys from Hawaii, the San Francisco bay area is credited to where the band was formed and discovered.
MAOLI in Hawaiian means "native" which represents who they are and where they are from. The 5 member band was formed in 2008 with Glenn Awong on lead vocals and guitar, Cory Lum on vocals and guitar, Hubert Kaina on vocals and keys, Kakana Akiu Corpuz on bass and Matthew Casil on drums. They all share a strong passion for Island Reggae music at an early age and had their first all-original CD release of "Groovin". Their lead single "No One" soon became the #1 requested song in every major top radio station in the state of Hawaii. The other song hits from their album are "Write Me A Letter" and "So Incredible".
MAOLI continues to strive to become a staple group in Hawaii's island reggae scene by following with their latest CD release, "Rock Easy" in 2010. With true island love songs like "Breaking My Heart", "Love Song", "Whisper", "Tell Me", "Send You My Love", "Minds At Ease" and "You In My Life", this album will soon to be on Hawaii's radio hits.
Island Sol Company is humbled by these Hawaii-based and bay area bands who make this ALOHA FRIDAY & HANA HOU SATURDAY events a time to remember. This Valentine's weekend will truly be a special weekend and should not be missed!
