Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival to Move Downtown, Expand to Two Days
Second annual event will take place in Old Town February 11-12
Lovers of craft beer, live music and great local food won't want to miss the second annual Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival taking place under heated tents this February 11-12 in the historic Old Town district of downtown Traverse City. The festival, produced by Porterhouse Productions, will launch with a kick-off party on Friday, February 11 featuring popular Michigan act My Dear Disco, then expand to a full festival experience on Saturday, February 12.
The TC Winter Microbrew & Music Festival, celebrating winter fun, craft beer and local wine, cider and mead, will be held for the first time in heated tents in Old Town Traverse City on Union Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets, as well as in Blue Tractor's parking lot.
National and Michigan-made music, local food and artists, and more than 60 craft brews from Michigan and beyond will be featured in a beautiful winter setting. In addition to beer, wine from the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula (WOMP) and food from area vendors will be featured at the event.
Michigan's Steppin' In It will headline the Saturday festivities, bringing their lively mix of swing, blues and roots to the Old Town district. Past festival favorites Delilah DeWylde & The Lost Boys will perform classic country originals, along with songs by Hank Williams and Buck Owens. Funktion, Grand Traverse Pipes & Drums, DJ Dominate, West African drumming and the Poi Fire Twirlers, a juggling contest and a full roster of acoustic artists will also perform throughout the weekend.
Festivities at the kick-off party on Friday, February 11 go from 5:00-10:00 p.m. in the Blue Tractor parking lot. Located in an enclosed heated tent, the evening will feature $3 pint specials, craft beer, delicious food, Michigan wines and live music. Limited tickets to Friday's party are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
The festival expands Saturday to include both the Blue Tractor parking lot as well as Union Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets. Saturday's tickets, which are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, include access to a full lineup of live music acts, craft beer education, winter games and activities, free samples in the popular Hop-N-Brew Shack, and five 7-oz pours, with additional pours available for purchase. Event hours are 3:00-10:00 p.m.
Tickets for the Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival go on sale Friday, January 7 at Oryana, Blue Tractor and online at www.porterhouseproductions.com. Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase limited tickets in advance. Ticket buyers must be at least 21 years old. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, use the Old Town parking deck (free after 5PM!) or walk, sled or snowshoe.
The Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival is presented by The Blue Tractor, Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and Porterhouse Productions, with additional support from the Michigan Brewers, Old Town merchants and community volunteers. Porterhouse Productions is dedicated to supporting local businesses and creating year-round events that support local food, beer, wine, arts, youth and downtown merchants.
