Tristan & Tashina Clarridge, Luke Price, Simon Chrisman in Weaverville
Luke Price and Tristan & Tashina Clarridge grew up playing Texas fiddle in contests, soaking up the old tunes at all hours of the day and night: feeling the excitement and headlong push and pull of the texas groove, hearing raucous shouts of approval and encouragement at the improvisations and musical acrobatics of a style that is seldom performed outside of the contests. With a combined seven years worth of Grand National Fiddle Championships between them and dozens of other accolades, they would appear on paper to be perfect ambassadors of the style but it isn't the contest wins that make them champions of Texas fiddling, it is the fact that they stay up all night and jam, instead of practicing for their rounds the next day, reveling in the thing that is the very life of the style: the energy and joy created by simply sharing these tunes with one another. This tour aims to bring that energy, the excitement and spontaneity of a good Texas fiddle jam, to intimate venues around the west. While Simon Chrisman (of The Bee Eaters) anchors the groove on bass, T & T & Luke will pass around the fiddle, the standard and the tenor guitars, sharing classic Texas fiddle tunes in the round.
