Emerald Boost Party with McTuff
The Emerald of Siam in Richland is launching a fundraising campaign to raise money for upgrades on their establishment. The fundraiser will be held on Wednesday April 22nd from 5pm - 10pm and will be a kickoff for an Indiegogo fundraising campaign.
"It's time for a boost" says Dara Quinn - co-owner of the Emerald.
The fundraiser will feature performances from hammond B3 trio McTuff (Earshot Jazz Winners) from Seattle as well as local jazz duo Mary Lou Gnoza and Steve Haberman. Ticket entry will include free Thai food for party goers and incentives such as free T-Shirts, Cookbooks and Thai gifts.
The Quinns hope to raise money for needed upgrades at the establishment including a new outdoor awning and kitchen upgrade for improved service.
"We have been working on a shoestring budget this entire time, Mom left us the restaurant that had been straddling the line of red and black for years". Increased business has caused a demand for some upgrades that the family owned restaurant needs help to afford.
The Emerald of Siam Thai Restaurant and Lounge in Richland's Uptown Center has been family owned and operated since 1983. In recent years Dara and Billy Quinn (brother and sister) were passed down the restaurant by their mother Ravadi Quinn.
"Mom was retiring in 2011. At that point the place had become quite run down and our regular customer base had been dwindling as people moved away, passed away or lost interest. Either it was time to close the restaurant or to make some major upgrades." Dara decided it was too sad to let the restaurant go. "The Emerald is like family. To see The Emerald close would have been like losing a family member." So Dara and Bill rolled up their sleeves and with help from good friends began tearing the place apart to put in a full bar and entertainment stage.
The duo have run the Emerald for over 3 years and have seen success. "Well, we are still here!" Dara says when asks how business is. "The community has responded very well to our new offers of nightlife and live music. Our built in crowd has been growing and the Thai cuisine continues to be amazing. Our chef Ma Vannapho has been with us going on 20 years!" The Emerald's cuisine has received numerous accolades including several years placements in "Northwest Best Places".
"A lot of people love the Emerald, and we love the Tri-Cities for all of their support!" says Dara.
The fundraiser will be held on Wednesday April 22nd from 5pm - 10pm. Tickets will be available at the door or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets start at $25 and include perks such as music performance, food, T-shirts, Cookbooks and more.
