Teaching and Learning Workshop for K-12 Educators: Bookmaking
In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week 2015, educators are invited to enjoy a fun, inspiring gallery tour and workshop experience. Educators will explore bookmaking and unmaking in a session inspired by the work of artist Samuel Levi Jones, who deconstructs and manipulates books such as encyclopedias and textbooks, to crucially explore systems of knowledge and power. Following a gallery tour of Samuel Levi Jones: Unbound, educators will explore parallels between the process of disassembling and assembling books, and interpreting visual information. Don't miss the opportunity to learn creative strategies for implementing bookmaking techniques in the classroom, and share ideas with colleagues. Dinner will be provided. Classroom materials and prize giveaways are included. Teaching and Learning Workshop for K-12 Educators is a free program. RSVP is required. Space is limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Educator programs are made possible thanks to a major grant from Wells Fargo.
