Microcontrollers for Makers - Pt 2
Microcontrollers for Makers is a multi-part series aimed at introducing programmable electronic platforms for robotics, wearables, monitors and the "Internet of Things". Part 2 focuses on the MSP430 microcontroller and the Energia port of the Arduino development environment for use with these low-power, low-cost chips. The class will show how to program the MSP430 using the Wiring-based Arduino language using Energia, and how to then embed the programmed chip in your own projects without the launchpad board. The MSP430 is ideal for controller projects where you'd like to integrate / leave behind the microcontroller (chips cost only a few dollars each).
It is highly recommended that students bring their own laptop for programming the MSP430, along with a breadboard, jumper wires (both male-to-male and female to male). The workshop materials fee includes an TI Launchpad for MSP430 and a socket for embedding the chip into projects.
Class Fee: $30 plus ticket fee Workshop Materials Fee: $20 (includes TI Launchpad for MSP430 and chip socket for projects). Date/Time: Friday, May 8th from 6:30pm - 9:30pm
