Hometown Hootenanny: Beach Blanket Rodeo
Summer is filled with great bluegrass music, but here's your chance to hear your favorite festival performers while enjoying comfy seats!
The Hometown Hootenanny for February is all about bluegrass. Regional favorites Prairie Flyer and Runaway Train are joined by Hootenanny sensations Northern Departure, along with the family band Not Easily Broken and local pickers Convergence Zone Bluegrass Band, for an evening of acoustic string-fueled music that ranges from traditional to cutting-edge.
Many of these bands will be featured the following weekend at the major Wintergrass festival, so here's your chance to see them up close and personal, in the comfortable and charming Historic Everett Theatre's renovated auditorium.
While most of the featured musicians have decades of musical experience behind them, the young members of Northern Departure, all under 21 years of age, are just beginning what will certainly be a long and storied career. The young men's excellent musicianship is just one part of their appeal, and they have earned standing ovations during each of their three previous appearances on the Hometown Hootenanny stage.
Emcee Cal Winston, an accomplished bluegrass musician himself, adds a touch of class to the show while inviting both the audience and the performers to feel at ease.
The Hometown Hootenanny is a family-friendly event, presenting live music and a variety of entertainers in a classic venue in downtown Everett.
