Darrell Scott
Darrell Scott is a busy man. That's what happens when you are a great songwriter (his songs have been recorded by the likes of Travis Tritt, Patty Loveless, the Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, Keb' Mo', Kathy Mattea, and Sam Bush); a great instrumentalist (he's spending most of 2011 touring with Robert Plant's Band of Joy, playing guitar, mandolin, banjo, pedal steel guitar and accordion after spending much of last year with Steve Earle's Bluegrass Dukes); and a great singer. Rolling Stone says his work "matches Guy Clark and Bruce Springsteen at their best." Acoustic Guitar notes "...an astonishing vocal range...His guitar prowess is equally impressive; with an arsenal of impeccable acoustic techniques and an electric guitar that is downright incendiary." Sam Bush says "His playing is unreal" and Performing Songwriter simply calls him "The best of the best."
Scott comes here on the heels of his highly acclaimed two CD masterpiece album, A Crooked Road, where he did all the writing, singing and playing on powerful songs looking back at 30 years of loving and longing and loss, at the bruisings and blessings of love relationships, documenting with unflinching honesty and emotion his journey from romantic young man to lone poet. A concert NOT to be missed--you will find yourself agreeing with the Houston Press, which said "His songs are every bit as good as those of Steve Earle, John Prine or writing partner/sometimes band mate Guy Clark, and when he lays into a Les Paul or a vintage Martin, sparks fly...one of the baddest cats in Nashville. Or anywhere."
