WE ALL WE GOT kicks off the 2011 series with bay area favorite, The Jacka headlining a special show with two rooms showcasing both live acts and emerging DJs. Presented by Inhouse Talent and hosted by Revolutionary Poet Sellassie, WE ALL WE GOT is an independent artist showcase designed to expose interesting and determined emerging artists, cultivate relationships, and build community. The series is creating a movement where upcoming artists can gain exposure and experience and perform alongside legendary artists. WE ALL WE GOT is a place to discover some new music you just might like and mightn't hear elsewhere.
The Jacka began his rap career as a member of Pittsburg, CA's Mob Figaz who released their debut album in 1999. Since then, Jacka has gone on to release three solo projects, over 25 successful collaborations projects, and various song collaborations with the likes of Too $hort, E-40, Cormega, Paul Wall, Freeway, and Bone Thugs in Harmony. He's experienced multiple Billboard charting successes including his infamous 2009 "Tear Gas" album, which hit several Billboard Charts opening week, and was the highest selling record coming out of the Bay Area in recent years. Jacka has also won various prestigious awards including Ozone Magazine's Patiently Waiting Award in 2008, and SF Weekly's "Best Rap/Hip Hop award in 2009. He currently runs The Artist Records & has continued to release multiple projects in 2010. The Jacka teamed up with Bay Area legend Andre Nickatina, with a new release titled, My Middle Name is Crime. While this is Nickatina and Jacka's first full-fledged project together, the Bay Area natives have previously teamed up on Jacka's 2009 release entitled Tear Gas. "Glamorous Lifestyle" sold 11,000 copies, making it the best selling track on Tear Gas and the accompanying music video garnered over 400,000 views on Youtube alone. "The collaboration with The Jacka came about cause of the response we got from the 'Glamorous Lifestyle' single"Â said Nickatina. "People liked the collaboration we did on that, and radio and DJ's supported it, so it seemed like a good fit."
WE ALL WE GOT host Sellassie is shining as a leading progressive voice in S.F. Bay Hip Hop. With an acclaimed debut release, I'm Tryin' to Make a Livin'Â Not a Killin', and a new follow-up album, Sins of Your Forefathers, he is carving his niche in Hip Hop. Although inspired and motivated from reading hundreds of books, Sellassie is self-taught and came up on the streets. Sellassie's lyric is rooted in a deep comprehension of the world around him. He writes on domestic and world politics, international relations and community needs, corporate thuggery and the obstacles independent artists face. He has seen first hand the problems that his music addresses. He has seen black on black crime, he has lost many close friends to homicide, he has seen the drugs and money destroy his community, he has witnessed the decay of Independent Bay Hip Hop. In addition to the new record, Sellassie is building this revolutionary show series WE ALL WE GOT, is working with many social, political and youth based initiatives, and is a contributor to various special projects including Emcees for Peace's The Matter That Matters CD and the film, "It Doesn't Cost Nothin' to Dream."
Proudly Sponsored by Reverb Nation, Fusicology, and the Hip Hop Congress.
