Marcus Luttrell Featured speaker Marcus Luttrell, recipient of the Navy Cross for combat heroism and founder of the Lone Survivor Foundation, is the author of Lone Survivor and Service, which are based on his experiences as a former Navy SEAL. In 2005, Marcus and three fellow SEALS were targeted in a harrowing Taliban ambush in Afghanistan in which he tragically emerged as the only survivor. The 2013 film Lone Survivor, starring Mark Wahlberg, depicts these events. Marcus has since dedicated his life to honoring his fallen Operation Redwing teammates through empowering fellow veterans.
Taya Kyle Taya Kyle is the widow of American Sniper Chris Kyle, the most lethal American sniper in history. Following his tragic death in 2013, Taya speaks at functions and major news outlets sharing her story of faith and perseverance. She also advocates for Texas' 2013 Chris Kyle Law, which serves to "expand the effort to help ease employment challenges for active-duty military members and their spouses." In addition to her captivating story of overcoming tragedy, she is an incredible role model for military spouses across the country. Taya's forthcoming book, American Wife, will be released in May 2015.
Chad Fleming Captain Chad Fleming enlisted in the U.S. Army as an airborne ranger in 1999 and quickly rose through the ranks with distinction, earning the Ranger Regiment's distinguished honor graduate award. Across six deployments, Captain Fleming served as platoon leader and officer in some of the Ranger Regiment's most demanding jobs. Captain Fleming has also been wounded in combat three times and has undergone 23 surgeries, including a partial leg amputation. Nevertheless, he continues to deploy on dangerous combat missions and will soon lead a special ops sniper/reconnaissance unit as detachment commander.
David Goggins Chief Petty Officer David Goggins is a former Navy SEAL who served in some of the toughest and most elite missions in the world As the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training, the U.S. Army Ranger School, and Air Force tactical air controller training, it's safe to say David always rises to new challenges. He continues to be a poignant example of rising above adversity: Though he is one of the world's top endurance athletes holding several world records, David was diagnosed in 2007 with a hole in his heart. Despite these odds, he continues to support military foundations and raise awareness as an ultra marathoner.
Pete Scobell Lieutenant Commander Pete Scobell is a former Navy SEAL who served 19 years on active duty and is the decorated recipient of two Bronze Stars with Valor, Joint Commendation medals, multiple combat action ribbons, and two Presidential Unit Citations. Pete speaks frequently about blast exposures, concussions and post-traumatic stress all of which he suffered when he was diagnosed and treated for traumatic brain injury (TBI). In order to pursue his lifelong dream of music, Pete moved into the active reserves; his duet with Wynonna Judd recently shot to #1 on iTunes' Country Music Chart.
