Good things come in small packages.

Velocity Dance Center is pleased to present Ten Tiny (valentine's) Dances as a Special Event in continued celebration of the Velocity Forever Capital Campaign. Performed in the round in Velocity's Founders Studio, the setting is a dance-filled arena with an on-site bar and plenty of romance to go around.

Ten choreographers. One very small stage.

Ten Tiny Dances is a performance form in which ten different choreographers create short dances to be performed on a 4' by 4' platform.  The super-charged lineup includes choreography by Mike Barber, Donald Byrd, Dayna Hanson, Kristin Hapke / tindance, Haruko Nishimura, Michael Rioux / The Sho, Stimulate Dance, Salt Horse, SandstromMovement, and Crispin Spaeth (Artist List is subject to change.)

Ten Tiny Dances was founded in Portland by Mike Barber and is produced in Seattle by Spaeth Projects.

Ten Tiny Dances is the brainchild of Portland's Mike Barber, who initiated this traveling performance party in 2002. Ten Tiny began as an experiment in confined space, a unique opportunity for dance/performance artists, and a full plate of performance art for a diverse audience. Since 2002, Barber has 22 editions in some of Portland's most in irresistibly festive environments, and supported the work of over 50 dance and performance artists. In 2005, Barber expanded the project by producing a two-city exchange with Seattle's Crispin Spaeth Dance Group, a successful collaboration which continues with Spaeth Projects. Barber continues to produce Ten Tiny shows in Portland, and collaborates with other producers in Seattle, Tacoma, Bethlehem, PA, and Columbus, OH. Barber will be touring to Orange County Performing Arts Center in 2011.
