Basic Puppet Building - Animals Walk in with a sad, naked hand and walk out with a fabulous new puppet friend in this basic class. Dip your toe into the wide, weird waters of puppet construction: cutting, sewing (hand and machine) and hot gluing your way to a finished puppet. Seattle-based puppeteer Chad Allers will guide you step-by-step as you create one of five animals: Dog, Cat, Bear, Bunny or Unicorn..or any animal your imagination can devise. If time allows, he may even give you some tips on how to use them.
Saturday, May 9th from 10am-5:30pm
Cost: $175 at Inscape Arts Building, Crash Boom Puppet Studio (Studio 230)
~ Class size limited to 8. Minimum enrollment: 3 students. ~ Recommended for ages 15 and up.
***FAQs*** - How skilled do I need to be to take this class? It's a beginning class, so we're ready to provide a lot of guidance. That said, your life will be much easier if you know how to do basic hand sewing.
- What sort of puppet will I be building? You'll be making a plush arm and rod puppet. Many Muppets are in this style. #WeHaveNoAssociationWithTheHensonCompany #ButWeLoveThem
- Are materials included? Yes. Everything you need will be on hand.
- What if I don't know how to use a puppet? You can still build one. And then you can take a puppeteering class: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1433799
***About your teacher*** Seattle-based puppeteer Chad Allers has been building puppets since 2010, when he won Project Puppet's annual contest with the second puppet he ever built. He makes puppet videos through his company, Crash Boom Puppets, including a series where he teaches people how to go about creating their own puppet productions. Locally, he has built puppets for live performances of Nunsense and The Pillowman.
