May 2015 Vancouver Program: Understanding How Perceptions and Assumptions Affect Workplace Interactions
Given that we are all "diverse" individuals, with upbringings that are affected by different socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic cultures, regions, religions, politics and other ideologies, we all see the world through different "lenses." Therefore when we interact with people who have different worldviews than ours, we tend to think of them as "difficult," "strange," or even "weird." Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable to future events.
In this one-hour interactive session, participants will: 1)Gain an understanding of how our backgrounds, experiences and upbringing affect how we perceive the world and affect workplace interactions 2)How these perceptions could be a result of bias, stereotypes and prejudice 3)Walk away with tools to slow down and check these assumptions
