Acrobatic Conundrum presents "The Language of Chance"
Contemporary circus favorite, Acrobatic Conundrum culminates a nine-city, West Coast tour with two final Seattle performances of "The Language of Chance: An Evening of Extraordinary Circus." The show blurs the lines between dance, theater, and circus and offers thrilling circus aerial and acrobatics, delightful clowning, and intriguing physical theatre to reveal an original form of storytelling.

Inspired by author Jorge Luis Borges' magical realist tale, The Library of Babel, the performance consists of two works created exclusively for the talented group of artists:  "A Book is Not a Ladder" by Seattle-based choreographer and director KT Niehoff and "Secret Passages" by Vashon's UMO Ensemble Executive Artist Elizabeth Klob.

KT Niehoff's work "A Book is Not a Ladder," melds contemporary dance and circus in a visually stunning way. In the piece, the acrobats find themselves trapped between the sensations of falling forever through a universe of infinite words and the Sisyphean task of finding meaning in a maze of undecipherable nonsense. Niehoff designed the striking set and costumes, and composed the original sound score in collaboration with electronic musician Pietro Ravanni.

Klob's creation, "Secret Passages," evokes a tale of missed connections and fortuitous endings, told through physical theater, clown, and circus arts. With an original scenography and Ravanni's music, the piece transports viewers on an unexpected, labyrinthine journey.

Since its debut in 2012, Acrobatic Conundrum has taken artistic risks to inspire and connect with audiences through the medium of circus arts. The show features troupe co-founder and aerialist Terry Crane, aerialist Carey Cramer, hand balancer Nicolo Kehrwald, contortionist Jacki Ward Kehrwald, partner acrobat Erica Rubinstein, and clown artist Ty Vennewitz. This group of acrobats are sure to charm and fascinate audiences of all stripes.

The show is all ages, but best appreciated by grades 6th and above.

This event is part of THREE HIGH, a series of contemporary circus performances presented by Acrobatic Conundrum at 12th Ave Arts.
