Join the Roth Family for a casual tour of their newly emerging homestead. This new-to-rural family has started their farming life with lasagna gardens, chickens and pigs, and plans for so much more! Enjoy a walk and talk about all things homesteading, how to start lasagna gardens, raise chickens and pigs -- followed by a cedar birdhouse making session where families build their own birdhouse to take home.
All ages welcome for this family-friendly event.
NOTE: Tickets for this event are per FAMILY.
A free copy of Renewing the Countryside: WISCONSIN will be given away to every family, couple and/or household registered for a particular workshop (a $26.95 value); the free book giveaway is limited to one copy per residential address of attendees.
About Windy Hill Farm:
Windy Hill Farm is a new family homestead started last year by Erica and Scott Roth and their three children. As city-moved-rural folks, it is fun to see what they have accomplished in just a year. Lasagna/compost gardens, chickens and pigs have already found their place in their plan of sustainable farming. Bees, greenhouses, hydroponics, and large animals are next to be added.
Having only ever lived in large cities, Scott and Erica yearned for a connection to the land and local food. They took matters into their own hands and forged a rural life for themselves and their children. It is still early in establishing their homestead and they are still learning.
