Public Speaking Workshop (Hosted by DC EcoWomen)
This highly interactive workshop will focus on how to deliver a compelling presentation to audiences large and small. It will provide tips on speech making and speech writing. Speech making covers techniques for developing an effective speaking style. And, speech writing covers writing for the ear, rather than the eye.
Volunteers will have an opportunity to practice giving a two-minute "elevator speech" on a topic of their choice. The mini-speech will be taped and feedback provided.
Training Highlights:
Delivery Techniques: good posture, hand gestures, upper body animation, facial expression, eye contact, and vocal control. Advise on appropriate attire.
Projecting Confidence: how to conquer stage fright.
Preparation: tailoring remarks to the audience, organizing the speech content, and writing a strong open and close.
