Pianomania
Pianomania takes the viewer along on a humorous journey into the secret world of sounds. Stefan Knuepfer, head technician at Steinway, Vienna works with world famous pianists Lang Lang, Alfred Brendel, Rudolf Buchbinder and Pierre-Laurent Aimand to find the right instrument with the necessary qualities, compatible with the vision of the virtuoso, tune it to perfection and finally to get it on the stage. Nerves of steel, boundless passion, and the extraordinary competence in translating words into sounds define Stefan. The film is about the quest for the perfect tone. It shows each obstacle that is created by abandoning everyday routine and surrendering oneself to Art. The fortitude that devotion engenders, the supreme love of perfection and of divine moments; and yet the refusal to bask in one's glory.
