One More Round - At Folsom Prison
Can Ya Hear That Whistle Blowin'
On Thursday January 13th at Atomic Cowboy Bar & Restaurant the band One More Round will perform a special concert to commemorate a turning point in the career of The Man in Black, Mr. Johnny Cash. January 13th marks the 43rd anniversary of Cash's historical performance at Folsom State Prison in California. The 1968 concert was recorded live and released...receiving critical acclaim and revitalizing his waning career.
Featuring Bill Forness and his booming baritone performing as Johnny Cash ... he commands the attention of any room he appears in. Chip Schloss of Atomic Cowboy Productions says "Bill is not impersonating Cash, but when you see & hear him perform its ghostly...I got goose bumps when I first heard him sing...he's channeling the essence of Johnny...down to the twinkle in his eye...with a similar intensity...that's what drove the music beyond its country roots...into a rock n roll universal legacy...and you can see it & feel it in Bill's presence."
An all star line-up of local musicians will imbue the essence of the Tennessee Three and then some...the band will perform the music just as it was...in lock step...to showcase the talents of Luther Perkins and his infamous Boom-Chicka-Boom...June Carter's smoldering charm, Marshall Grant & W.S. Holland's Locomotive Rhythm & Roll...and special guest Carl Perkins...will all seemingly be on stage echoing across the years before your very eyes & ears. The historic recording "Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison" will be performed authentically in an order that combines the best of both shows from that day...from start to finish.
So book your tickets and join the Warden & Prison Guards of Atomic Cowboy in The Fox Hole...for this dramatic presentation...while you won't be led off to do time behind bars at the concerts conclusion...this show will resonate with the same heart it did 43 years ago...and your heart will be satisfyingly aching...for all the right reasons !!!
Doors at 7PM...Show at 8pm.
Tickets are $10
